MAC address = Media Access Control addressor or Mac Daddy.....


  • Every network card has a unique MAC address
  • It is the hardware address that uniquely identifies a node on a network
  • find your MAC number in Windows(10, 8, 7): open command prompt (CMD), type in getmac /v
  • find the MAC number in Linux or Unix: open a terminal window and type ifconfig -a.
  • find the MAC number in Mac OS X: open a terminal window and type ifconfig.
  • First 3 bytes of MAC address is the Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) and usually encodes the manufacturer (aka Dell)
